Mont Saint Michel ramparts

The first ramparts in the 13th century were built to protect the archangel's sanctuary. Other fortificatins were built during the 100 Year War to protect the Mount from attacks, particularly from English invasion. Today, the perfectly conserved ramparts are a witness to the past.
