The tides at Mont Saint Michel
Make the most of your stay at the hotel on one of the most spectacular sites in the world to admire the tidal phenomenen at Mont Saint Michel, renowned for its high tides, the highest in Europe.
A unique natural phenomenen
The Mont-Saint-Michel is located in the middle of a bay of 40 000 hectares which is bordered by the English Channel and crossed by three rivers: the Couesnon, the Sée and the Sélune.
Twice a day the tides invade the bay. At high tide, the whole of the bay is immersed and at low tide the whole of the bay of revealed...
It is at spring tide that this phenomenen is at its most impressive when the tide goes out at great speed over a 15 km expanse and comes back in just as quickly.
These tides are as impressive as they are dangerous. If you are planning on crossing the bay on foot or on horseback, check the tidal calendar for the Mont Saint Michel and make sure you are accompanied with a guide for your safety.
Majors works at Mont Saint-Michel
Thanks to the major works that have been carried out over these last few years, notably the construction of the footbridge, the Mont Saint Michel is once again an island at high tide !
